Oregon farmer devoured by his pigs

OK. Admittedly, this is not looking good for the hogs in question. I had only seen this once, in "Hannibal", the movie starring Anthony Hopkins. I didn't know things like this could actually happen...

This one comes from Toronto, Canada. A Canadian student is having trouble finding an apartment to rent because her pet is a (lovely) pig, named Ottis! Pig discrimination at work people!

Pig heads used as a racist attack symbol

According to news reports from the French city of Montauban, Muslim worshippers found two pig heads hanging outside the gate of the local mosque this morning as they were going for the morning prayers.
Pigs are considered unclean by Muslims (better for the piggies, I say) so this has to be recorded as a racist attack, especially as it took place during the holy month of Ramadan.
Read reports by the IB Times and The Daily Mail. French TV video here (no pig heads portrayed).

Pig in Japan's radiation hit zone

Here's an Associated Press photo I came across online. The pig shown resting in a water puddle is found in Japan's radiation and earthquake hit area. More than 10 months have now passed from Fukuoka's tsunami and ensuing disaster...
I do not own the rights to this photo. If you do and you want me to take it down please let me know.

A clear case of misunderstanding!

According to Yahoo! News and the Associated Press news agency, police in northern Germany were called to free a woman and her 2-year old child from their car which was surrounded by a swarm of large, aggressive pigs! How could that ever be true? Anyway, here's the story.

EU site on "the life of pigs"

Farmland is an EU site, trying to get kids from EU countries - mostly remote from rural life and unaware of the life of farm animals - to learn about them and their life in the farm. Each animal is given a short presentation and a powerpoint file is available for download as well. The "Life Cycle of a Pig" has some really nice piggy pictures. There is also a game available, for those interested. Available in all EU languages.

See video here and here.

In all fairness, we have seen better trained and more competitive piglets elsewhere. These guys were fun but mostly just for show. See for yourselves though.
